Enelalma (“In the Soul”) is a world-class, small-batch, additive-free sipping tequila crafted from single-estate agave in the Highlands of Jalisco. This is your rare opportunity to meet the mastermind behind the liquid. Master Distiller Oscar Vazquez, renowned for his precision and incredible legacy at iconic distilleries like El Pandillo, will be in the shop to share his craft.

Oscar Vazquez
Oscar Vazquez Camarena is a highly respected figure in the craft agave world, known for combining technical scientific precision with a deep respect for traditional methods.
- The Chemist’s Approach: A chemist by trade, Vazquez is celebrated for his “hands-on” and meticulous approach to distillation. He focuses heavily on the science of fermentation and the impact of mineral-rich deep well water on the final spirit.
- The El Pandillo Legacy: Before launching his recent projects, he spent over a decade working at the world-renowned DestilerÃa El Pandillo (NOM 1579). There, he worked alongside legendary master distiller Felipe Camarena on iconic brands such as G4, Volans, Terralta, and ArteNOM 1579.
- Current Projects: He currently serves as the Master Distiller for Enelalma Tequila and Tequila Corrido. He also crafts the Manuscrito brand at the family-owned El Sabino Distillery (NOM 1643) in Jesús MarÃa, Jalisco.
- Distillation Philosophy: Vazquez is a staunch advocate for the “clean” tequila movement.
His production signatures include:
- 100% Additive-Free: He is a key member of the new generation of distillers dedicated to authenticity, ensuring no glycerin, syrups, or artificial colors are used.
- Highland Terroir: He works exclusively with mature, single-estate Blue Weber agave from the Los Altos (Highlands) region, which provides the characteristic bright citrus and floral notes found in Enelalma.
- Traditional Methods: He uses traditional brick ovens for slow-cooking agave and copper pot stills for double distillation to preserve the plant’s complex flavors.

In collaboration with founder Melanie M. Shelby, Vazquez formulated Enelalma’s profile as a “prestige sipping tequila.” His technical skill was instrumental in creating its specific flavor profile — noted for its complexity, elegant mouthfeel, and a finish that balances cooked agave with delicate floral aromas.
