Hi Everyone,
Well, that 49er’s loss still hurts…. but we look forward to our first-ever Valentine’s Stroll to support our local Bernal businesses this Wednesday, 2/14, from 5:00 – 8:00!

There is now a forecast for rain on Wednesday evening, so we will arrange to borrow a tent for the ukulele club playing outside the library, and hopefully, the musicians by Vega’s / Black Locket and Inclusions / Vino Rosso will have enough shelter.

I will bring more tabletop signs and postcards from your stores and restaurants to help promote our GoFundMe to pay for the second installment of Lights Along Cortland. Please encourage your customers to scan the QR code and donate any amount: https://www.gofundme.com/f/bernal-love-for-lights-along-cortland.

Thanks to all those who have contributed, we have raised over $10,000 but still have $6000 more to go. Please contribute yourselves if you haven’t yet, as the lights benefit our businesses and need everyone’s support!

Our Bernal neighborhood has had three wonderful murals added to it recently, and our Welcome to Bernal sign on the side of 1501 Cortland above Bare Bottle’s courtyard will be painted the week of February 19th. This mural sign will feature our Bernal owl and Red Tail hawks flying over the city from artwork by Nicole Dixon, painted by local artist and sign painter David Benzler.

The painting of this mural sign, along with the Valentine’s Day stroll and installation of lights along Cortland, will signal the completion of our Avenue Greenlight grants, which end next month, one year from the awarding. The neighborhood seems to enjoy these grants’ extra effort and results, which may not be offered again this year. We must rely on everyone’s support to keep the Bernal Business and Arts Alliance going!

Please come to our next meeting BBAA on Wednesday, 3/13, from 3:00 – 4:00 at the Bernal Star courtyard cottage to share your ideas and help plan our next events, starting with Earth Day activities to be held most likely on Saturday, April 20th, during the day,

Thank you all, and don’t forget to donate to our GoFundMe today! https://www.gofundme.com/f/bernal-love-for-lights-along-cortland, Laurie
