About the workshop: Explore the fine art of silk painting with René Shoemaker, a France-based American artist who will guide us as we examine historical and contemporary silk paintings and develop new skills. Our creative experience begins with planning our projects and investigating color while integrating our design aesthetic with the natural qualities of silk and dye. We will transfer the design onto silk and familiarize ourselves with resist and various dye application methods. Each workshop participant will create a painting on a 22” hemmed silk square that can be worn as a scarf or displayed as a wall hanging.
