Beyond Tequila: Discovering the Hidden Gems of Mexican Wine

When you think of exceptional Mexican beverages, world-class tequila and traditional mezcal are usually the first to come to mind. But a quiet revolution is happening across Mexico’s vineyards. From the high-altitude valleys of Central Mexico to the coastal breezes of Baja California, Mexican winemaking is stepping into the global spotlight.

To celebrate this exciting movement, SF Tequila Shop is hosting an exclusive tasting event featuring three incredible bottles that perfectly capture the diversity, innovation, and terroir of modern Mexican wine.

The Lineup: Three Bottles Changing the Narrative

Our featured flight moves from crisp, high-altitude whites to a deeply structured, elegant red. Here is what we are pouring:

Terra Mädi Sauvignon Blanc (Querétaro)

  • The Vibe: Crisp, clean, and vibrant.
  • The Region: Querétaro, located in Central Mexico, is famous for its high-altitude viticulture.
  • The extreme elevation brings cool nights and warm days, creating a Sauvignon Blanc with bright citrus notes, striking acidity, and a beautiful mineral finish. It is the perfect refreshing starter.

Viñas Pijoan “Silvana” Chenin-Sauvignon Blanc Blend (Valle de Guadalupe)

  • The Vibe: Aromatic, complex, and expressive.
  • The Region: The Valle de Guadalupe in Baja California is the heart of Mexico’s wine renaissance.
  • This boutique, low-intervention blend combines the texture of Chenin Blanc with the bright fruitiness of Sauvignon Blanc and a hint of aromatic Moscatel. It delivers tropical fruit notes balanced by a clean, lingering finish.

Torre de Tierra Tempranillo / Cabernet Sauvignon (Guanajuato)

  • The Vibe: Bold, structured, and sophisticated.
  • The Region: Crafted by Cuna de Tierra in historic Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, this red blend shows just how sophisticated Mexican terroir can be.
  • Old World grapes meet New World climate to offer deep, dark fruit, subtle baking spices, and beautifully integrated tannins.
