Please come to our next monthly Bernal Heights Democratic Club meeting on Thursday, February 23, at 7 pm, via zoom (see link below).

We are excited to welcome Supervisor Shamann Walton to talk about the work of the African American Reparations Advisory Committee, which he convened via legislation passed at the end of 2020. Supervisor Walton will provide updates on the preliminary recommendations, what’s next as the Committee prepares to report, and what we can do to support this long-overdue effort. As we recognize African American History month, Supervisor Walton’s presentation is particularly timely for our February meeting.

We will also hear from healthcare advocates and workers involved in the fight to save critical long-term care at Laguna Honda Hospital.

There’ll be time for questions and discussions.

Founded in 1988, the Bernal Heights Democratic Club (BHDC) is a chartered Democratic club organized to give the residents of Bernal Heights an effective voice in government through active participation in the electoral process. The club’s mission is to research issues and candidates to educate and mobilize the community through political activities, including community forums and slate card development and distribution.

Endorsements of candidates and issues reflect the overarching goal of the club, which is to maintain the economic and cultural diversity of the neighborhood by working to further economic and social justice for all residents.
