FIESTA ON THE HILL 2024
Fiesta On The Hill is a day of community building and fun that enhances the quality of life in our beautiful city. It is an opportunity for 8,000+ residents from across San Francisco to connect with a new neighborhood and enjoy over seven blocks of dozens of arts and crafts, local goods/services, and food vendors. Along with many vendors, highlights include live music and dancing, guest speakers, and family-friendly attractions, including a childrenās area with games and more.
WHO DOES FIESTA SUPPORT?
Nearly 2,000 of our lowest-income neighbors in Bernal Heights and the Excelsior. Proceeds benefit the work of BHNC, a woman-led, majority BIPOC-staffed neighborhood center deeply rooted in the community. Programs and services for seniors, families, and people with disabilities strengthen the vitality and diversity of Bernal Heights and surrounding neighborhoods. BHNCās affiliate arm, the Bernal Heights Housing Corporation, develops, preserves, and rehabilitates affordable housing for low-income adults and their children. In times of crisis, BHNC assists residents who need food pantry support or access to critical housing, health care, and financial or legal services. BHNC helps to make our community strong and resilient.
Unrestricted revenue from event sponsorships makes an organization healthier. It provides flexibility and the capacity to be nimble, responsive, and far-sighted. It allows BHNC to leverage other restricted funding sources and strengthens its position when funders look for signs of community commitment.
Calendar – Bernal Heights and Beyond
Bernal Heights Neighborhood Center (BHNC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works to preserve and enhance the ethnic, cultural, and economic diversity of Bernal Heights, Excelsior, and surrounding neighborhoods. BHNC promotes action to build a just and equitable community for all. It focuses on the needs of people with low and moderate incomes.
They develop and preserve affordable housing throughout San Francisco to achieve their mission. They provide linguistically and culturally responsive services to their community’s most vulnerable adults, seniors, youth, and families. They develop leadership at the neighborhood level. By empowering tenants, clients, residents, and allies to advocate for their and the community’s needs, they achieve stable communities and vibrant, engaged neighborhoods with equitable access to city resources.
BHNC also works with its affiliate organization, the Bernal Heights Housing Corporation (BHHC), to further its mission by developing and preserving stable, affordable homes. Their housing programs are designed to support adults with low incomes and their children, including formerly homeless individuals and those with special needs due to mental health issues, HIV/AIDS, or substance abuse problems.
