Kintsugi Wabi Sabi workshop w/Ryley Gaulocher

Join Ryley in celebration of imperfections in the Wabi Sabi Kintsugi Workshop!! This workshop is designed for individuals who aspire to practice total self-acceptance.

In the workshop, Ryley will define what wabi-sabi means literally and personally. The philosophy of wabi-sabi will be discussed, acknowledging that all things are imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete.

A modified version of kintsugi will be practiced, where participants can bring their own broken or fractured ceramic piece or use one provided by the workshop. Then, the piece will be repaired with imitation gold. This process not only accepts the brokenness of the item but also celebrates it, adding greater meaning to the piece.

This philosophy can cultivate mindfulness and acceptance of oneself and others, enhancing the significance of life and promoting overall well-being. By discovering boundless beauty in the imperfections of each moment and embracing those qualities, individuals can let go of some control and live more fully in the present.

If participants bring their pottery for repair, working with certain unglazed clay bodies might be challenging due to their textured surface.

Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing suitable for sitting on the floor, as it may get dirty, and to bring their smiles.
