The Earth Day 2023 Theme Is Invest in Our Planet. What Will You Do?

Earth Day is an annual event celebrated on April 22, highlighting the need for environmental protection and sustainability. It is a global event celebrated in more than 190 countries and is considered one of the largest civic events in the world.

Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970 and was established as a response to the growing concerns about pollution, deforestation, and environmental degradation. Since then, it has become a day to raise awareness about the need to protect the planet and promote sustainable living practices.

On Earth Day, people worldwide participate in various activities to show their support for the environment. These activities include planting trees, organizing clean-up events, and promoting recycling and energy conservation. In addition, schools, universities, and community organizations often hold educational events and workshops to educate people about environmental issues and ways to reduce their carbon footprint.

The theme of Earth Day changes every year and is chosen to address current environmental challenges. Some past themes include climate action, plastic pollution, and biodiversity. Earth Day aims to inspire people to take action toward creating a sustainable future for the planet and all its inhabitants.

A COMMUNITY PROJECT BERNAL HEIGHTS, SAN FRANCISCO

Brought to you by Greening Projects

Ogden Avenue Gardens – We are neighbors working to transform a neglected and weed-strewn street into a children’s playground, a community gathering place, and a safe and comfortable place to wait for the bus.

The 400 block of Ogden Avenue (between Folsom and Gates) is an “unaccepted” street, meaning the city does not maintain it. It has no sidewalk. Yet, it is a much-traveled pathway to the bus stop for local parents walking their toddlers to Ana’s Childcare and for neighbors walking their dogs.
