Or Shalom Jewish Community weaves Jewish wisdom with the realities of modern life, offering low-key services, educational and hands-on classes, volunteer opportunities, and more. We are a music-loving congregation, with a lively ensemble of instrumentalists and vocalists.

We do not require anyone to convert to become a member of Or Shalom. Our members come from all walks of life: Jewish, non-Jewish, and “it’s complicated”; single, married, and “it’s complicated”; old, young, and in-between; and all genders, sexualities, and identities. It’s not so complicated after all.

We are a Jewish Reconstructionist community tasked with making Judaism relevant to our times while respecting the traditions of our ancestors. As Reconstructionists like to say, “The past gets a vote, not a veto.”

We act lovingly toward one another and all who enter to create a sense of belonging for every person.

We engage with one another intellectually, spiritually, musically, and joyfully.
