DESCRIPTION:We Can Pickle That!: Carrots and Sauerkraut\nSunday\, March 22\, 10:30 am – 12:30 pm\nAlemany Farm\nInstructor: Mei Ling Hui \nJoin us in the farm’s outdoor kitchen for this hands-on workshop\, where you’ll learn about the basics of pickle making\, both with vinegars and natural fermentation\, and tips you need to know to make sure your pickles are safe\, crunchy\, and delicious. You’ll make your own jar of carrot pickles and sauerkraut to take home and ferment. \nPlease bring a cutting board and a knife. This workshop will be held in the outdoor kitchen. Please wear layers and sun protection. \nMei Ling Hui leads SF RPD’s community garden and urban farm programming\, and has been volunteering as a Master Food Preserver since 2014. She has taught workshops all over the Bay Area\, including at the San Mateo County Fair and Maker Faire. Mei Ling is also the Co-Chair of the Preserves Committee for the Good Food Awards\, which honors outstanding American food producers who push their industries toward craftsmanship and sustainability while enhancing our agricultural landscape and building strong communities. \n\nFriends of Alemany Farm is a group that manages the horticulture\, volunteer\, and educational programs at Alemany Farm\, a 3.5-acre organic farm ecosystem in southeast San Francisco. SUMMARY:Upper Esmeralda Garden Stairway- Community Workdays
DESCRIPTION:Upper Esmeralda Garden Stairway – Community Workdays\nThe Esmeralda Stairs are three block-long stairs that people can use to climb the west side of Bernal Hill. The bottom flight of stairs starts at Coleridge St.\, one block east of Mission St. The middle set of stairs goes from Prospect Ave. to Winfield St. The top section of stairs ends at Winfield and Esmeralda Streets. The Esmeralda Stairs are utilitarian\, but they’re also fun. Two slides are often called the Winfield Street Slides in the mid-section of the stairs.
