Digest is dedicated to every person and resource involved in the highly curated experience of dining – those who farmed and harvested\, chopped and simmered\, selected the perfect plate; the seeds\, the water\, the earth. \nPainting the post-meal tablescape extends the invitation to mindfully absorb the experience – the company\, the conversation\, the sense memories – everything that made this meal one to savor long after the dishes have been washed. \nLaurie Caird is an artist based in Oakland. Her work explores our relationship to time\, celebrating the Japanese concept of ichigo ichie – cherishing the moment at hand\, as it will never be replicated – and themes of connection to nature\, humanity\, and joy through food. \nCalendar – Bernal Heights and Beyond\nBernal ConnectMike Doherty serves as Chief Experience Officer at Greening Projects\, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming underutilized urban spaces into vibrant green areas

While she grew up in Colorado\, she regularly visited her Swedish family through adulthood and has fond memories of eating strawberries with milk on the porch during Midsommar. \nAmelia wouldn’t be Swedish without having an obsession with candy\, and she regularly requires at least two pounds of the “godis” to come home with her on every trip. \nAfter moving to San Francisco from Denver\, CO\, in 2020\, Amelia immediately became enamored with the food scene. Deciding that her tech career needed a shift\, she worked as a line cook at the former Michelin-star restaurant Octavia in San Francisco. Here\, she had the privilege of working with the freshest farm produce and learning unique fermentation techniques\, as well as fundamentals in food prep and storage\, cooking at scale\, and running a service. \nSoon after\, she launched “Hej Hej Swedish Hot Dogs”\, her pop-up and private chef concept. She started carrying custom mixes of her childhood favorite Swedish candies in 2022. \n“Hej Hej” can be found across the Bay Area and around various parts of New Mexico. \nAmelia is currently searching for the perfect location for her first brick-and-mortar concept\, “Hej Hej Swedish Candy + Hot Dogs“. \nCatch her at an upcoming pop-up and experience the wonderful world of Swede-ish hot dogs! \nSan Francisco Food & Drink Fest\nBernal ConnectMike Doherty serves as Chief Experience Officer at Greening Projects\, a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming underutilized urban spaces into vibrant green areas
